Chosen

Standard

Today I read a blog entry titled “chosen” which immediately struck a cord.  You can read the blog entry here:

Our daughter came to us with her English name – Grace – but we gave her another name – Khethiwe – which is also her middle name, it is a Zulu name that means “chosen”. This entry in the link was written by a Mom who has also adopted.  We knew “chosen” was a good name for our daughter and it is a very special name to all of us.  Then came this piece of scripture which is also in the link:

“For you are a holy people, who belong to the Lord your God.
Of all the people on earth, the Lord your God has chosen you
to be his own special treasure.”
– Deuteronomy 7:6

Oh man!  How awesome is this.  Gracie is also called “little treasure” by her Nana!  This was a good and Godly read.

Gotta love God-incidents.

  1. Seems you’re all doing great. I’m sure your precious bundle has grown! We are about to start applying for adoption and I had been wondering what Zulu name to give if we got a girl, Khethiwe is perfect;-) But we are still far from even choosing names seeing as dear hubby hasn’t yet filled in the forms;-) Keep well Thandi

  2. Hmm, I had typed a comment but my phone acted up. Love the name Khethiwe, it has such meaning. If our future adopted child is a girl -busy filling in adoption agency application forms – I might very well convince my husband to call her that. 😉 I hope Grace us as smiley as ever. Keep well.

  3. Hello Thandi. Thank you so much for your support and encouragement. Gracie/Khethiwe is doing fantastically and we couldn’t be more in love with her 🙂 Delighted that her name resonates with you too – it is a very special name for any child but possibly even more so in adoption. As for completing forms etc, I can HIGHLY recommend going through Child Welfare. Private is good but we were just so blessed adopting through Child Welfare and found them far more welcoming and helpful (we tried private too). All the best and keep me updated?
